Hi, a few months ago I asked "What hairstyle fits me" and I decided to grow it out... people tend to like it... say I look nice... but I am Asian so the back of my hair tends to be flat... I REALLY HATE THAT! so I decided to put on wax...I use a one from Japan that my friend use with great results... I try it and my fair doesn't get more volume...This wax cost 25$ and only contains about half a cup of wax... am I doing something wrong?!? I wake up,put it on,nothing happens... and I seen videos on how to do it! I follow everything including the hair spray and roots part... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?! If you Yahooerz have any GOOD wax... that you tried with AMAZING results please do share...
This might sound girly, but try using some volumnizing shampoo and mousse. It'll add definition to your hair and it won't be as flat.
are you placin it on top of the hair or on the scalp? it will be flat if you put it on top of hair put the wax in yur hands and warm it up by rubbing hands together then lift the hair from underneth and work up ward.hope this helps use lil at a time
you're probably using too much. you only need about a dimes worth. don't apply it at the scalp. go about 3 inches from your scalp. make sure you rub it in your hands first to be sure you are evenly distributing it.
I dont know why, im just a teen. Im not even in my 20's yet but this has been bothering me for quite some time. For some reason on my eyebrow and random body parts Im growing white silverish hair. Its not like alot. The most Ive found on myself at one time was like 3 and I usually just pluck or pull them, but it grows freakishly fast and long. in 2-3 weeks a long white strand about 1.5-2 inches grows on my eyebrows. My familys asian and think its good luck so I try to keep it but still freaky to me. And it bothers me knowing I cant find anyone else online that isnt a senior that has this problem. SERIOUSLY...IM NOT EVEN 20 YET x|

I think white hair at an early age comes from stress. I only say that because my friend always had naturally really dark brown hair, but her parents got divorced when she was about 12. In the middle of the divorce a piece of hair right by her bangs started growing in white at the roots. She let it grow out with the rest of her hair..and ever since then she just has this white piece in the middle of the rest of her dark hair. I wouldn't know the medical reason or anything...but maybe you're too stressed!

I work with Asian teens and many have a few white hairs - it's not unusual - some tint them, others leave them - I think they look quite cute.
i also have white hair..if it's really bothering you and you start getting bad opinions and comments on it, no sweat, just get rid of it. most of my white hairs are on my head and some are even the size of my longest streaks of hair! i pluck some of them sometimes tho :P it might be genetic, altho mine aren't. no one in my family had white hair at my age, and i'm 13!
I would leave them..it is a sign of future good fortune the more hairs the more money you will have..;0)
my brother went to school with one guy and he had a full head of grey hair when he was 13/14, receeding hair when he was 17 and bald when he was 25.
Some are just genetically prone to having grey hairs at a young age and there is not much you can do about it if its genetics except blame it on whoever you got it off :)
If it is hormonal you could speak to your doctor about it and see if there is anything he can do to help you.
regardless of the fact that your family is asian... at this age, I would say it's hereditary. Someone else in the family began premature grey hair growth. grand parents maybe. Other than that,.... stress is known to promote grey hair growth, but more likely it's in the genes!
If it is highly alarming, I would see a doctor. I got white hair when I was 15 for a short period of time when I was extremely stressed about moving across the country during my freshman year. Other factors besides stress can be vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
However, I've met four people that during their teenage years had grayish-white hair sprinkled across their body and one that was balding. There could be a genetic cause that you may want to consider, but it sounds like this is rare in your family.

you could ask your parents when they first had white hair. im asian but gold hair on my face, legs and head are visible. im not an albino cause my hair's brown and my eyes are like, black. i think its because of my family's spanish history but its kinda weird cause when i was like 10, i dont remember having gold hair and my brown/black hair never fell off . and now, if one will look closely, some of my black hairs started to have like gold bottoms, i dont mean roots its like half of the hair is gold

use 2 lemons and put in 1cup of water. wet your hair with water and pour the lemon and water all over your head. wrap your hair in a towel and leave it like that for 15 minutes. do that once a week!
Use any kind of shampoo from Dove. Use conditioner too.
Try rinsing with some lemon juice or vinegar in a mug in the end after washing ur hair or try putting youghurt on ur head for a few hours.
Try Selsun Blue. They have different varieties, and it's what I use. It works way better than anything else i've used. I have a similar hair type.

In my experience with horrible dandruff, Head and Shoulders either does nothing and makes it worse. Here is what I have found really helps:
1. Scalpacin. You apply it to your scalp and it stops the itch for about 12 hours, so ideal when going to school or work. It doesn't make your hair look dirty or greasy and doesn't have a strong smell. You can get it at Wal-Mart.
2. Coal Tar shampoo. Again, you can get it at walmart. I think Neutogena makes one, but I got the walmart brand and it works just as good. It does smell, but the smell won't linger in your hair. Only use about once a week. It really helps clear the dandruff and stop some of the itching.
heyyy lynn! as u know, i'm asian too and what my doctor told me was to put baby oil in my hair and let it sit for about 10 minutes and then wash with selsun blue. i used to have dandruff but i did what he said and it works!!!!! i don't have dandruff anymore and my head isn't itchy!!!!!! it REALLY works!!!!!! =] hope it helps!
That happens to a lot of asian ppl. I get that too, and my mom does too. We're asian too. Sometimes my dad has it, and he's not asian. Anyway... just try to take showers/baths more often... and rinse ur hair well. Try to take a longer shower or switch your shampoo / conditioner to a different brand.

For me I think nothing wrong when guys keep their hair long but in some Asian societies people have a bit negative strange feeling. So I would like to know about general feeling about this matter because majority guys of this world do not keep their hair long.
I don't think hair length is a good judge of character level. Saying all men with long hair are stupid/unstable is like saying all men with beards are lumberjacks. It is a generalization based on personal experience. You should not judge some one by their hair, even if it is all matted. Sometimes things happen in people's lives that cause their personal appearance to suffer, but appearance can be changed or even used as deception of what is really going on.
I've only known one man who had long hair, and he was very intelligent and stable. I cannot judge others by his appearance.
I think men have short hair in most societies so as to be identified as men, it is part of their gender role. This is also because women now wear pants, which used to be strictly worn by men in western culture, and women wore dresses. Like it or not, cultures still have gender defining traits. Sometimes it is also religion, (some religions say if men should also wear beards or not.)
I do not find long hair attractive on men, at all, for any reason.....yuck!

I much prefer a clean-cut guy. Long hair to me is often (but not always) a sign of the tortured artist type, and I'm really past that phase now. Plus, I just find shorter hair more attractive.
However, there are some that can carry off long hair... just like there are some women that can carry off short hair. Some guys just don't have the face shape or hair type to look good with long hair.
I like guys with long hair. I like guys with short hair. I like skinheads, and headbangers with long frizzy hair. I like mohawks, liberty spikes, trihawks, and some emo cuts. The only hair I don't like is hawk-mos and really ugly emo cuts. All in all...I don't really care what kind of hair a guy has. I think people make such a big deal about it though because the world's perspective of a man is a clean cut, short haired, strong man who can support a family.

okay i dont wear alot of make up. i have big brown almound eyes, short eye lashes, tan clear skin, a small mouth with full lips.

Often soft brown eyeliners look best with brown eyes, black eyeliners look obviously unnatural.
You should get a good mascara that'll make your lashes longer. With good mascara's your lashes look naturally long, you can't tell that it's mascara. Also keep in mind with mascara that it can give you eye infections to put mascara on the lower lashes.
I would also recomend brown or light pink eyeshadow if you are going to use eyeshadow, but you would look most natural and pretty without it. And light pink lips are always the best way to go if you want to look natural but also want to go simple and pretty.
If you like the way your hair looks, don't highlight it. Apart from it being not very natural looking, you also will probably regret doing it. Try it up in a high ponytail of a bun. You could try a french braid or you could go totally different and maybe grow out bangs or get your hair layered. You could also use a curling iron on it if you wanted to try curls.
im asian to i use almay eyeliner black but if u only want a little i suggest brown if u want fuller eyelashes you can use one that maximizes it or i use full n soft maybelline it works rlly good maybe for an extra touch use like pink lipgloss very light colors go well with our type of skin
ok first of all asians are soo pretty you guys dont really require for alot of make up. but one thing you guys make a mistake on is putting eyliner at the bottom. if you do that than use a very thin pencil. one thing that woud be very pretty is pinkish blush and the same color lipgloss and all your features will pop out.

i am asian too and i know what you mean when you want to stay as natural as possible. well try like a light pink or light brown on your eyelids. and definitely use masacra. if you want to be a bit more extreme use liquid eyeliner. if you dont like the smokey raccoon eye look stay away from dark colors like dark brown, grey or black. you should try a light close to nude pink on your eyelids and on the outside by the edge of your eyes use some brown. like i said finish off with masacra. good luck and have fun...

Just try to keep everything natural. I wuld suggest a sheer light colored lip gloss, mascara (from what you've said it sounds like you wouldn't like eyeliner), and a light shimmery eye shadow (try a colo that kind of matches your skin tone, but one thats not the same exact color), as for your hair I would probably keep it the same colo since you like it, but maybe trying out more or new hair styles or cuts.

yes! who says asian guys have to stick to short styles? many celebrities have long styles too. but i think it'll all really depends on your personality. no point getting a style that doesnt suit you at all.

Now, what this question doesn't address is whether or not you're interested in a particular boy. If the question is will Boy A like Girl B, some of that could be about "race" but there's usually a million other considerations that are equally important, especially in a cross-cultural relationship. If you're concerned about dating Japanese in general and really enjoy Japanese culture, start learning Japanese. Once you know the language you should plan a trip overseas. It might sound a bit extreme but if you're dead set on a Japanese guy, you should make plans to go to Japan.

well, since there is no such thing as "good" or "best" hair...RACE has NOTHING to do with it!!!!! As someone above said, GENETICS plays the biggest part and, how you personally take care of your hair is the rest! I have seen people of ALL races with nice and not so nice hair.

everyone is different... but i can tell you that race has nothing to do with the hair... it's all about texture... i've seen many white girls come in and get their hair done and it's nappy and dry and curly... i've actually seen that hair texture in all races... so it's not necessarily what race you are, it just depends on the texture of hair you have... i personally like thick wavy hair... it holds curl well and it is easy to straighten, full of body and bounce and shine is something that can easily be added

It really depends. Most oriental people have really pretty hair if you like straight hair. Some white people have really nice curly hair. Hispanic people usually have thick hair, which is always good.

Everyone does in they're own way. I love my "African American" hair because it is unique and no other race has hair like it ( I mean in it's natural unchemically alter state). And when it is cared for well it gets amazing long and thick and beautiful. Unfortunately there are too many of us abusing it trying to make it like all the other races, so we don't often get to see how beautiful it is. It's very sad actually.

About bleach at the tips, it would certainly depend on how you want your expression to look like... if you want lighter complexion and a bit funky type, then you can go for extreme colours. what you can do is bleach streaks into it but don't leave the bleach in too long so it looks more like a caramel brown than a wierd unnatural color. that's what i did and i love it. the black brown should look good too as long as you don't go too light.
asians with brown or blonde streaks can look trashy. if i were you i'd go with bold coloured highlights, like pink or blue or green. If you want a less bold colour, try red or platinum blonde. it will contrast really well.

My variation on her idea is to bounce a slaved flash in a small silver umbrella off the ceiling. I set the ratio (after measuring with a flash meter) so that the bounced lighting is about 1 to 1 1/2 stops less than my on camera flash at the distance I will be shooting. You can use more than one bounced light to more evenly light the scene if needed. Evening out the light allows you to work the room better as you move around. I tuck these lights in out of the way places, like near the caterers and tape the light stands down very well. I also use a light like the Sunpak/Vivatar 383. I don't want any wires for people to trip over, or have to run extension cords because the outlet is clear across the room and probably being used anyway.

In my opinion, the MAIN issue I have to work on with this type job is a dilemma created almost every time my subjects have dark hair, and I do not have good lighting control of the background. The background must be sufficiently lighted, otherwise, when it goes dark, only faces show on subjects -- no delineation for subjects hair.
If you can slave flash the background so that it doesn't go dark, then your main flash will create a "sheen" on Asian hair because it is so shiny to begin with.
A luxury would be if there would be to light from the top down on the tops of their heads, without lighting their faces with this light. You'd just about have to use a boom -- maybe not feasible at reception. However, this method would create a dazzling reflection "crown" on the shine of their hair without over exposing the faces.

My hair was naturally black. I'm asian so its very thick. My hair is short, so short it doesn't touch my shoulders. I cut my bangs so that it would cover one eye. I part my hair just a bit off-centered. I dyed it to a dark red. (Hardly seen in most rooms.) Then I dyed it again with a lighter red, and got a bit more results. Then I decided that I should bleach my hair at home. (I wanted blonde streaks and the underlayer of my bangs blonde.) But of course, like most results, I got orange/red hair. (VERY noticeable.) Now I wanna get away from that, so what should I do? I've thought about getting my hair dyed to a dark brown, so that the un-bleached parts of my hair would be extra dark and the bleached parts would be a lighter brown, then go to a professional and get the streaks and the underlayer of my bangs bleached to a bleach blonde. Any other ideas? Please post pics if you can, and tell me the overall cost (in Canadian $). Thanks in advance!!

I think it would cost about $80. You are going to damage your hair if you keep dying it. Die it once more(how you want it) and wait 3 months before you die your hair again or else it will thin and eventually make you bald. If you want thinner hair natrually ask your hair stylist(proffesional) to thin it for you. Dont try to do this your self as you may end up with a bob cut.
Well, i think what would look cute ( from your description of yourself) would be semi- Short hair (around the shoulders). You need lots of layers and really edgey ( not alot of volume). color wise i would do a semi-light brown with a touch of blonde streaks in it (not poping blonde streaks but ones that can go with the tone of the brown color). I think this would be so cute (esp. on an asian :)

i have never heard of this experiance i'm 100% thai but i'm tall and i don't have that "normal" asian skin color so once i was asked if i was hispanic that was funny there is no real eurasian look because everyone looks the same maybe a slight height diff be proud on how you look and if people make fun of you it just goes to show how immature people can be but you can laugh at them because right now tan skin seems to be the pigment of choice and contacts may help but it won't look natural.
I am sorry you feel that way. I am half Japanese and half European (Swedish, German, Scottish, Welsh) mix. I remember I had an issue about my identity too. I have hazel eyes, and dark brown hair, and I definitely do NOT look Asian, but I wanted to look Asian at one point (which was during my high school years). My white side used to treat me differently, and I can't say that I've had the best experience with them...All I can say is that I eventually learned to like who I am. Appreciate that you are unique, and that you are here. :) If your white side teases you, just ignore them, or even, just tell them it bothers you. Just remember that you are the best of both worlds. I think you will eventually learn to like yourself, and that you will appreciate that you are unique. Things will get easier. No worries.

The color you choose depends on your skin tone. So i would have to say a dark red or a more brown color but still red-ish, like auburn. If you went a lighter shade, it might not look natural (with the olive skin).

Don't go ultra red, here is a few things to remember with going red.
If you have acne, discolouration or rosacea, red will highlight those flaws, if you have yellow underskin tones, Red will also give you a sickly drained appearence.

At school, I've seen asian (especially chinese) people with haircuts that I really want to have. Unfortunately, I'm too embarrassed to ask them about how they got it cuz it's sort of an awkward question to ask. So, I'm trying to look for pictures of that haircut online so I can print it out and show it to a haircutter and get one for myself. I can't find any pictures of the haircut though. The kind I want is black hair, sides and back cut with about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inches left. The top is sort of roundish and the front juts out a bit so that it doesn't cover your forehead or hang down from its own weight but its enough to look good on an oriental person. Looking at it, it's really a simple haircut, but I need a picture that can be found online so I can show it to the haircutter. Asian women are not the only people who dye their hair. They are lots of women from different backgrounds that feel some color highlights will make them look better. Dying your hair and wearing colored contacts are all part of fashion. It makes the individual look better so they do it. And also, all women have insecurities about the way they look, whether it's to a certain degree. Asian women tend to have lower self-esteem about their image. And also, not all asian women like to date men of other races. In most situations, men of other races hit on asian girls first so the girl just gives in.

I think it all depends on the economic situation of the asian female.
If an asian women comes from a less affluent economic class she tends to be content in her natural hair and in general dress, and not as confident in her social interactions.
But, if she comes from affluence, she usually has designer clothes and colored hair and an attitude more open and confident with others.
I think asian females from a higher economic class have access to the worlds toys ,like other girls from affluent money, and choose to follow the social image of what girls with money do. Buy high priced things, and emulate their cultures version of the european american "valley girl".

Revlon L'oreal are both pretty good, but usually dark colours fade a bit quicker than lighter ones. My hair is naturally dark brown and I dye it black (permanent dye) which lasts about 4 maybe 5 weeks before it fades back to brown. I also suggest using semi-permanent dye. It lasts about the same as permanent dyes (especially when dyeing hair darker shades) and is A LOT less harsh on your hair than the permanent dyes, leaving your hair lovelyyyyyy and NOT dry! = )

don't thin your hair or cut it too short if your hair is thin to begin with. curly and short is a bad combination, so keep it shoulder length or longer.
Layers are good for curly hair because they lighten the weight of the curl, allowing them to be more bouncy. I keep my curly hair at shoulder length and have layers all around. when I get out of the shower, I brush my hair and scrunch mousse into it. Then I dry it upside down with a diffuser attachment on my hairdyer. This keeps the curls from getting too frizzy and also gives my hair more volume (I've got pretty thin hair, but one wouldn't know it because of all the wonderful curls!)
Well, since you have thin hair already you may not want to thin it out. I say maybe some layers, and maybe for a change straighten out your bangs on your own.. I love curly hair and straight bangs!

if you get choppy layers the curls will sit on top of one another, this means your hair won't look too thin. If its thin, don't get it thinned out - this is really bad for your hair anyway! So my advice would be to get choppy layers, tell the hairdresser not to cut any length off and to cut it semi dry not wet.
I am asian with a heart shaped face. I was thinking of getting a straight perm and bangs that would be parted and getting it shorter in the front where your hair goes onto your chest than the back. sort of like a tifa lockhart hair style. but I have no idea. and Im afraid it would look bad because Ive been told that getting a straight perm looks really bad in the beginning. But I straighten my hair because it has volume and it has waves but it still looks bad. What should I do. does anyone have any suggestions

you fit the descriptions of one of my friends ... what she does thats looks really cute is curl some pieces .. not all the way to the top though like less than halfway . i looks really cute and she has sidebangs . when you put it up it looks amazingg . but its cuter down . make sure to use a little hairspray for a good hold.

I'm also asian...my hair is puffy after I wash it. So...it's puffy because it's clean? Try wearing a hat or beanie for a while, it will help to flatten it out.
weird. most asialns have sleek black shiney hair. occasionally you see the dark brown wavy thing.
maybe you blow dry your hair. or you use not great hair products.
try switching to something else.

I have no idea why your hair is now curly but the longer you wear your hair, the less curly it will be. The weight of long hair will pull the curl down. If you keep your hair cut really short, much of the curl will disappear also. Chemical straightners will damage your hair severely, as that's what chemicals do.
Use straightening products and straightners.
relax your hair. it will chemically straighten your hair. idk why it turned curly. but just get it relaxed so it will be straight again. also get a really good straightener like a chi.
Maybe it was always curly naturaly but since it was so long the weight of the hair pulled it down.
if you moved to a different country that has hot weather that might be the reason...or sometimes when you have long curly hair the curls dont really show because its long...to get your hair long you should eat protenes and get your hair trimmed every now %26amp; then.
and this tip is great: if you keep straitning your hair by blowdrying it your hair will get used to it and become straight by itself..
every bodies hair changes in time the only thing is to get use to it or get it chemically straightened
your hair may be naturally curly but when it was long the wieght made it straight.or it could be genetics look at older female relatives to find out how theirs were at your age.
it happened to my uncle, he had straight hair and then he had to have his head shaved and it is still curly, nothing helped him, but i was thinking maybe you should cut it all off and hope it will ocme out straight? or even shave it?

Well, puberty can change your hair texture. I know several people that had the same thing happen to them and the only thing we could figure out was that it changed at the same time they were going thru puberty.
You should just enjoy the diverse looks that are now optional to you! Curly is gorgeous, but you can always straighten it with products and flat irons!

Same thing happened to me too..until 6-7th grade I had an apsolutely straight hair and after that the more i grew old the more it was czrly..I think it has something to do with hormons or something like that.You should NOT try to make it straight with an iron..you will only damage it..it will get dry and ugly..so my opinion is to leave it the way it is..there is very little people who are blessed with that..you should be lucky that you have curly hair..because straight hair is more common.,.so many people have it..

I don't know about japanese hair salons ...but if all you care about as it seems that you have asians cutting your hair ...then go to pacific mall...kennedy and steeled their are chinese owned hair salons in there

No. It's never okay. Their hair might be quite damaged even though I've noticed that a lot of Asian people's hair is really shiny. It's because they eat so vegetables and rice. Always use heat protection. They're made for a reason. To protect your hair from heat.

You should always have some type of protection on your hair when you are straightening your hair. Like a serum or cream or mousse you can use.

I don't a lot of the time and it doesn't hurt anything...but I use a good conditioner. Sometimes I use a heat spray. I like Herbal Essences a lot or Bio Silk works good too. It is probably wise to use one if you can. It will keep your hair from breaking.
Asian people don't have to straighten their hair, we already have shiny stick straight hair naturally.
The first time i dyed my hair i used Color Silk Blue Black and then i started using Loreal Paris Feria. it was called Starry Night and it put a good blue tint in my hair but i want somthing really really blue without being to expensive. I have considered Chroma Silk but its very expensive and i would just want to do it myself and not go through the trouble of having a stylist do it. So does anyone have any suggestions.? i want my hair to shine a bright noticable blue color in the light and from far away seem jet black. and please dont say "Use asian color.!" cause someone said that once before and i just thought they were being dumb =pp so ya help me.? i actually love dying my hair blue black to but the line that i thought was the most beneficial and cost around 7-8 bucks was garine frutist blue black 210 if iam not mistaken. i love this color and i just think its the prettiest color out their. good luck on ur search!
I'm asian with long thick wavy hair. It gets frizzy when I blowdry it so I avoid doing so. I just let my hair dry naturally but still it isn't really drying the way that I want it to. I heard there's this tool out there called diffuser out there. I wanted to get it but wanted to see if it's worth it before I go out and get it. How can I use the diffuser to get defined waves without getting all the frizzes? Also, if my hair is wavy, should I go for shampoo that is designed for curly hair? Oh and what kind of shampoo is good for the hair? I heard alcohol-free shampoo is good but not exaclty sure which brand to go for. Thanks in advance!
A good moisturizing shampoo and separate conditioner is good. Even if the shampoo has conditioner, still do a separate conditioner. For your frizzies there are serums specifically for frizzies. Also a light weight mousse would be good as well.
I have given this advice before and have had thank-yous coming back to me. Buy yourself some glycerin at the drugstore. It's about $3 a bottle and is the main ingredient in all your "Frizz-free" products that can cost you way much more.
A dime-sized drop on your hand, rub your hands together, then apply to your damp hair all over starting at the roots, comb through. You will have waves, no frizz, and lots of shine....Good Luck!

I'm looking for pictures of an ethnic male model that is somewhat asian. Ethnic meaning full lips, mixed, and so forth. I can't remember the name of the male model I saw in a runway show.
