Is It Bad to Use Body Lotion In Your Hair?

Today while waiting in line to purchase from the college bookstore, the girl behind me asked me what sort of moisturizer I use for my hair. After I told her I just use some regular body lotion she mentioned that it's actually bad for your hair.

You would think if it's good enough to use on your skin, it should be good enough to use for you hair since your hair is essentially dead skin cells.

%26amp;%26amp; just to note: I use the Vaseline brand Cocoa Butter Lotion for my hair

%26amp;%26amp; please don't mention that I should use something like John Frieda products or whatever because I've tried plenty of products %26amp; none have really helped my hair (I'm half Black from my dad's side %26amp; half Asian from my mom's side).

I am sure it does not harm anything. If you are getting good results, stay with it. I do my own thing with products and have done for a long time. Nobody can tell that it is not the same as the rest. I had not thought of using body lotion, but starting today, I am going to try it. So thanks for the tip. You said yourself that the lotion is good for dead skin cells and that hair is constituted of much the same thing. I think you have a better understanding of yourself and the products than does the young lady who was behind you in line. At least yours is based on science and personal experience. The other girl is likely just stating what she has heard in advertisements and the like. It is their job to market product, not to think... lol. Good on you for being a free thinking girl.

Well I think if your hair feels good from it, no breakages, split ends, over greasy or over dry, keep up with it. I'm glad someones found something that works for them!
