During Chengiz Khan's reign, he attacked many Central Asia cities, killed most of it's inhabitants and often carried young women back to Mongolia to be made concubines in his court. These central asian people probably had blue eyes since they belonged to those tribes that are believed to be classified under the larger group called 'Aryans' . This probably explains why you have blue eyes. This is especially so because the 'blue eye' gene is very weak compared to 'brown eye' gene. Hence it is almost certain that you have inherited the gene from both your parents.

Interestingly enough, people resemble their grandparents more than their parents. My parents are both extremely fair, but I am dark and not quite surprisingly, my paternal grandfather was also dark. Even my facial structure has more similarity with my paternal grandfather than my father.

people are wrong if they make it sound like a simple punnett square. it's already been well-discovered that physical traits such as hair and eyes don't follow the simple system of dominant and recessive. there are many genetic and environmental factors that effect what eye color you have. SO, therefore nobody in your mother's lineage has to have had blue eyes, BUT someone in your fathers DID. therefore- no your mom's mom's mom, etc...- didn't sleep with anyone. eye color is polygenic. same thing with height. being asian doesn't make you short and if your tall it doesn't mean that a vague label for a race has been bred into your lineage. for example, i'm half white half asian- my little brother has slanted eyes, my older brothers are half and half and my eyes are more rounded. there are a multitude of factors that can effect your eye color that don't fall under the dominant/recessive scheme. this could result in light, dark and even green for some of you. so in responses to some previous answers. it'd be like saying ALL white people are white and NO white people tan. If a white person tans and doesn't just get RED then they aren't 'pure' white. this is wrong. also it'd be like saying all asian people can tan. this is wrong too, there are asian people that are whiter then white people. see?

so no you don't HAVE to get the blue eyed genetic traits from both parents. this belief is obsolete. eye color is controlled from many factors before and after birth. so please enjoy the beautiful results of being a mix between a chinese mother and a 4/8's of different "whites" father.
