How can i spike my hair?

Hey all, I'm 14 years old and i have about medium sized hair, not really that long. I was wondering, how can I spike my hair up? I have Got2B Rubber spiking glue but i dont really know how to use it i used it once and everytime i try to spike my hair with gel or got2b it just falls down. Heres the hair that i really want -

I heard that he used Loreal Gel, and it worked. He has really short hair, and plus his hair was hard (coarse sort of? he is asian), so it worked well.

If you have like a softer touch to your hair, you need to use a good gel. I think that spiking glue should work.
