Why do Americans criticize about Asian girls/women about their appearances so much?

Hi. I am a Japanese woman living in Hollywood for more than 6 years.

Ever since I came to this country, I always wonder how come Americans like to criticize about Asian(especially Japanese womens fashion) womens appearance if they try to change something (like hair color).

I am just sick and tired of hearing of criticism about Asian women.

I know some Japanese girls really like to wear coloful clothes like "aliens" from another planet. But so what? They are just teenagers and enjoy their youth.

You might say that Asian women should have black hair so it looks great on them. But if I may say so, it's just because you have a prejudice againt Asian women's appearances.

Americans don't like anything different.

When things are not the status quo, they freak out. And many Americans have not adjusted to seeing people of Asian descent in their daily lives. And when they DO see an Asian person, they want to see the TV-stereotypical "Me-so-horny" or the ones timid, quiet, non-English speakers, again, stereotypical.

Keeping being you! Because if you conform to their way of thinking, they'll still find another way of stereotyping you.

Most American women would never dream of criticizing an asian woman about her looks... I think you've had the bad luck of meeting untypical, rude women. This isn't an attitude you can attribute to all American women. Report It

Hear mainly compliments about Asians.Jeanius,.0001% whites get surgeries.now straighten hair(90% you guys do)narrow nose,wear blue contacts and be halfwhite like Halle,Ms. Milian,Alicia(ya know what I mean)and accept that ya'll wanna look white/latina/other way more than the other way around.lol. I have heard some American's do this. I think it is because they 'dislike' what they dont 'understand.'

I love the fashion, style, and up-bringing of Asian women. I think their clothes are very beautiful and inspiring. I think they have wonderful attitudes on life and are polite to everyone. Some of my best friends are Asian because they are so real and down to earth.

I think Asian women are some of the most attractive in the world... but, according to the people you have met, I must be alone in this.

Jealousy - they want what they cant have so they unleash the criticism, they do it with blacks and latinos too.

This is why they are getting lip implants, extensions, tanning and getting butt implants.

I am 1-4 Japanese and I have never have seen this happen here. Mostly people just make fun of asian drivers. I think it is very funny because my beautiful, proud Japanese grandmother in fact can not drive.

I've never met someone that criticized Asian women about their appearance.... I suspect what you are experiencing may be a Hollywood thing. People in Hollywood are obscenely preoccupied with appearances. You'll find most Americans are not.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that Asian women age extremely well and seem to be able to keep their figures after childbirth. Too, on the average, I believe that Asian women are smarter because they tend to be able to balance their studies/work and their recreational time better than American women.

I am one quarter French, one quarter Swedish, and one half American Mongrel. I judge each ethnic background as equal, but different. If anything, I wish I had something a little more exotic or eastern in my genetic make up. Every race is beautiful for a wonderful array of characteristics. Don't listen to those jealous so-and-so's!! Vive la difference---Long live the difference!!!!
