I heard of a type of Asian armor that was worn in the hair to protect against beheading anyone know

It was supposedly metal plates which were worn by clasping hair inside. The armor was to protect from beheading from behind. The shape of the plates varied but often they were a few centemeters thick, several centemeters deep and up to a third of a meter long. Some of the armor took the form of broad plates encompassing the entire width of the neck in a single peice, yet being very thin. If anyone knows if this armor really exisits, and what the name is please let me know.
